Hi, I have been looking for someone to share a very strange experience that i had last week, and found your site, which impressed me very much. On Saturday 31st July 2010, I arrived home from work at around 22.20, and when I got out of my car, as usual, I stood for a minute looking at the stars. Then I noticed a red light in the skycoming towards me. So, I stood and watched it approaching. Then I realised that there was more than one, and in fact there seemed to be a loose formation of lights. The colour I can most closely associate with these lights is like the brake lights of a car. As they got closer, I could see that the objects were circular, and , I think, flatish in shape. The underneath of each one seemed to have some other circular shapes on them. I counted either fifteen or sixteen, I am not certain which, but there was one in front, then two, then two small groups, then two then finally one. I could not hear any noise associated with these objects. As they got pretty well over me, they all in their formation turned at right angles and flew off over the houses. I walked down the road from where I was in the car park, and saw a lady getting out of her car. She had also seen these objects in the sky as she was driving through the village. I live in a village called Rickinghall, which is on the Suffolk/Norfolk border.

Sounds like Chinese Lanterns.

Seconded, most likely Chinese lanterns.
Re: Rickinghall UFO
I had thought of that, but I don’t think that that would fitl. Having seen chinese lanterns, they look round, and these objects looked flattish. Also there was no noticable wind, and these things moved fast , if quietly, and with a purpose, it seemed.
I just wish that , instead of just standing watching, I had thought to get out my phone and try to film them. i am afraid that I am not being very clever at describing what I did see!
Re: Rickinghall UFO
I have never seen Chinese lanterns apart from on the TV, but I am wondering how they appear at differant ranges and whether the distance from the object makes made them appear different to close up. Also, I suppose the wind strength may have been stronger higher making them appear faster.
Re: Rickinghall UFO
Chinese lanterns are now available in a variety of colors and shapes, including square and "flowery". Red and round are still favorites though.
Also remember that wind at ground level is no indicator of what’s going on just a a few thousand feet up.
Re: Rickinghall UFO
What did we blame when there weren’t Chinese Lanterns readily available?
Re: Rickinghall UFO
Sounds strange at first but i think it was really Chinese lanterns. Apart front your experince many had been seeing like those and I don’t think it is unusual.
I have been hearing late news with those topic but it doesn’t seem to interest many people unlike a report showing a slight uptick in consumer confidence was released Tuesday early morning. The markets advanced. The marketplaces went into reverse a short time later once the Fed released minutes from its latest meeting. Stocks came back to life Wednesday. News about reports showing manufacturing growth in China and the United States of America did the trick. I found this here: Stock market volatility fearful overatctions to economic data .However when the Department of Labor turns lose its jobs report on Friday, many expect the stock market to resume its slide. This late burst of schizophrenia concludes the darkest August for stock traders in ten years. Increasing in step with the wall street fluctuations, the Industry Volatility Directory (VIX), otherwise known as the “fear index,” showed its biggest August jump since 2001 at nearly 11 percent.[Edited by Admin – Please stick to topic]

Where does the state of the stock markets come in, please, or am I missing something?
