More Anglesey Ghosts by Bunty Austin

More Anglesey Ghosts is the follow up to Buty Austin’s book, Haunted Anglesey, and touchingly dedicated to her late husband Walt. In this book Bunty has retuned to her favourite stomping ground and brings to her readers a new collection of ghostly sightings and paranormal encounters set to keep you up at night.

Bunty’s style of writing is to tell the tale as it happens which I accept isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but it does makes for a more interesting read and draws you in to the characters and events. Among the tales you’ll discover the secret of the poltergeist of Bryngwran and read more about one of the most haunted buildings on Anglesey, Tre-Ysgawen Hall. The hall which is now a grand hotel was first built as a private house in 1882 and has it’s fair share of ghost residents. The house burnt down in a large fire in the early 19th Century and this is possibly where one ghost of a young kitchen maid comes from who died in the fire that night.

Bunty is clearly passionate about Anglesey and over the years has befriended many locals so she has a great insight into the local folklore and history and the quirkyness of life comes through in-amongst tales Roman Legionaries, eyeless ghosts and the return of Rosina, a ghostly opera singer who featured in Bunty’s first book.

As a researcher, I would have liked to have seen a little more information on the cases, and to have some references.
