Mullinakill Holy Well
Mullenakill is just one of several places that claim to be the birth place of St Moling. The Saint is said to have built a church here and the old oak tree at Mullenakill was according to tradition, planted by St Moling in the seventh century. Beneath the tree is a stone altar where offerings would be laid.
The waters here were said to be blessed by St Moling and it is said he gave them the power to cure ulcers. The Holy Well is known as Tobar Crann Mo-Ling (Well at Molings Tree).
On the 20th August (Feast Day of St Bernard of Clairvaux), Cistercian Monks from nearby Jerpoint Abbey would come to Mullenakill to say Mass.
