Capel Lligwy
The remains of this building, close to Din Lligwy and the Lligwy cromlech can cause the visitor to stop and ponder why a chapel was built in this isolated evocative position overlooking Lligwy Bay. The fact is nothing is known about the history of this chapel, not even which saint it was dedicated to.
It is thought that it was originally built in the 12th Century, when the Vikings eventually stopped raiding Anglesey, which lead to increased stability on the island. The upper parts of the walls are thought to have been rebuilt during the 14th Century, and a crypt was added in the 16th Century.
