Sensitive Sensors
This is old story I found trawling the net but one that shows a good natural explanation is not always hard to find.

“… overly sensitive IR
"… overly sensitive IR sensors, recently installed to control lights, are being triggered when the climate-control system causes air currents to shift …"
Well it would be if air currents affected infra-red sensors.

Good point Mysteryshopper đŸ™‚ I wonder if they had some other kind of sensors inplace here as well then.
The only way a climate
The only way a climate control system could affect passive IR detectors would be if a sensor were placed right next to a hot air vent. True, air currents do not affect sensors themselves but enough hot air blown onto the plastic casing could fool the sensor. Guess why I know that.
