Personal Introduction
My name is Michael McGlasson and I just joined the site. I live in Michigan, USA, near the city of Detroit, and am a professional, full-time freelance writer of fiction/non-fiction, poetry, and academic extrapolations on a wide variety of subjects. My main focus at this time is writing children’s stories based in part on ancient Scottish legends and folklore.

My surname of McGlasson (Anglicized form) in Gaelic is MacGlashan which can be translated as Son of the Grey Lad or perhaps Green Lad. My ancestors arrived in North America in 1750 from Scotland and settled in what is now the Commonwealth of Virginia, so my family roots in America goes back more than 250 years. As to Scotland, I know that the family surname dates back at least to the 14th century A.D. somewhere in the northern regions of the country. There’s also suppose to be a family manor of some type (undoubtedly in ruins) located in Ireland in County Cork but I have been unable to authenticate it. I would be very interested in corresponding with other writers because at times, I include facts and information in my stories which I cannot completely verify as true or accurate, i.e., it would be nice to hear from someone who possibly lives in Scotland and has vast knowledge of its culture, language, traditions, geography, etc. As you can see, I’m a stickler for details.
