Eltham Big Cat? (2005)

ELTHAM residents fear a big cat is on the loose after foxes were found ripped to shreds.

Laura Downes, 47, of Westmount Road, Eltham, discovered a dead fox in her back garden and thought there was nothing sinister involved.

But when she looked out an hour later nothing was left except clumps of fur, scattered around the garden.

Crystal Palace Puma (2009)

Beacon Wood Country Park Big Cat (2006)

This 300 feet high round hill, historically surrounded by ancient woodland once had a beacon upon its summit which was part of the beacon chain used to warn of the approaching Spanish Armada during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I.

Welling Big Cat (2003)

Alison White in a Newshopper article entitled ‘Sightings of big cats rocket in past month’ (30 December 2006) metions that ‘In April 2003, teenager Daniel Brown disturbed a giant black cat in the back garden of his home in Preston Drive, Welling.

Churchfield Wood Big Cat (2005)

According to Alison White in a Newshopper article entitled ‘Sightings of big cats rocket in past month’ (30 December 2006), in January 2005 ‘News Shopper reported how a big cat had been seen near Churchfield Woods, Bexley Village.

Thong Lane Big Cat, Gravesend

The following story concerning a big cat seen in Gravesend appeared in a 23 December 2006 article by Helen Wagstaff entitled ‘2 more big cats sighted in county’ which appears on the Kentonline website.

Snare Hill Bear

On 15 June 1979 a story regarding the sighting of a Himalayan or Malaysian bear seen by several witnesses on the outskirts of a wood near the A1066 at Snare Hill, appeared in the Bury Free Press, Sunderland Echo and national press.
