It lies abandoned and overgrown with weeds which is perhaps surprising given that this is prime real estate in the middle of one of the world’s biggest cities. The reason is that Chinese buyers shun this building because of its reputation as a haunted house.

Ye Olde White Harte on Silver Street is a Grade II listed building with strong links to the English Civil War and a reputation of being haunted. Built around 1550, the building became a public house in the late 18th century. There is a story that an apparition of a man has been seen sitting at the bar with a pint of beer. It has been suggested that it could be the ghost a man who killed himself in the cellar. This haunting is mentioned on several websites but I am unsure of its origin.
