Do you consider yourself psychic? If so, how many of these questions do you answer with a ‘yes’?

    • Domus Ventorum says:

      Yes Mysteryshopper,I

Yes Mysteryshopper,I consider myself psychic, and the questions I asked in the post is all pertaining to my own experiences since very early childhood, how it all began for me I guess.

I find it very hard sometimes when I am just out and about walking in a mall for instance, and strangers walking infront of me,energies just rub off on me,because I am clear audiant(hope I spelled that right)too, its like walking through areas of garbled radio reception at times. The worst bit though is sitting next to a stranger on a plane,at the movies etc,and knowing that I have a urgent message for them, but because I am a very shy person, and afraid of ridicule,I cant just turn to them and tell them obviously.

I can give you a rather recent example though of when I just felt I had to help,be it in a very small way.

I was at Heathrow,on my way back to South-Africa,and as I was ready to get on that indoor train to take me to terminal 5,I ‘heard’someone say,’oh God,help me,I am so scared,I am lost, what will the children think of me’etc etc, very garbled,I looked around, and saw a middle aged woman, looking so frightened lost and confused,I walked up to her, made full eye contact, and said the following,’I know you are feeling lost and confused and a bit ovrewhelmed right now, yes?.

She didnt even react amazed,or taken aback, just clung on to me for dear life.
I could sense that her thought process where rather garbled at that moment for lack of a better description,I took her hand, and went with her on the train,I knew she was also on her way to South Africa.
I stayed with her untill it was time to board the plane, very gently ‘unknotting’ all that garbled energy inside.

I have to be honest and
I have to be honest and answer ‘no’ to all of the above with the exception of sometimes knowing who is on the phone though I put that down to there being only so many people who call me anyway!

However, what you said about ‘garbled radio reception’ strikes a cord with me as I distinctly remember when I was a child on several occasions hearing exactly that. It never frightened me or alarmed me, in fact I didn’t really pay much attention to it, it seemed perfectly natural and I can specifically remember voices talking about lorries once! Occasionally as I got older I would still hear it and once in a blue moon as an adult, I am sure I’ve caught just a fraction of something similar. The experience I had as a child is far more clear though. I’ve often heard that children are in tune to their ‘sixth sense’ or whatever the preferred term is but that in most cases it fades away, or our minds become ‘less tuned’ as we grow up.

For what it’s worth, I would want to know if somebody had a message for me πŸ™‚

    • Domus Ventorum says:

      In answer to BaobhanSith

That is a fair assumption to make,if there are only so many people that call you regularly.

What ussually happens to me is,in that fraction before the old landline phones used to ring,i knew it was say for instance Pete,or Tracy, and I would answer the phone in that manner,’Hello Pete’ πŸ™‚
This always amused people no end, lol.

I tend to drift of when I answer posts, and dig up old memories, but this one is also connected to a phone.

A client phoned me, and as I was going to be in a town near where he lives that coming Saturday,I suggested that he meet me at a exhibition/show I was to attend that Saturday.

I was talking to some friends inside the hall,it was very busy with people bustling all around, felt that the prospective client would walk into the hall doors that moment, and that he felt a bit anxious at how he will recognize me,as all I said earlier was to ask any of the adminastrative staff at the entrance to point me out to him.
Anyway,to cut a long story short,I walked to the entrance, and immidiatly recognized the man, before he asked anyone to point me out, and even though he never described himself to me,walked up to him,and greeted him by his surname, hello Mr ‘Smith’.

He politelly asked if I knew Miss so and so,lol, and I said, thats ME.
This guy looked very uneasy indeed!lol, but being polite, did not remark about it much.

I love giving this small examples,as I am sure it happens to many peoples exactly like this, but they just dont recognize it for what it is.

As for the clear audiance you have experienced..that is exactly what it sounds like πŸ™‚

And no,if you where born with the gift, you still have it,the myth that children are more sensitive is exactly that,a myth!
All advantage that children have..wait for this…there minds are way more unclutterd than ours!Makes sense doesnt it?

A child can sit perfectly still and watch a bug crawling up a tree for ages, nothing but the bug the focus of all its conciousness, where as us grown ups,well..different story alltogether, wont be 60 seconds even before all these little random thoughts and worries will pop up like: ‘I shouldnt have worn this shirt,it makes my arms look fat’,or:So this is what it feels like to be 35,hmmmm,my mom was younger than this when she had me,omg,I am old,no wait, even worse,I am drifting into middle age!aaaaaargh!lol….’ad nauseum,ad infinitum these thoughts will go on and on,and the reason we started to relax in the first place, our focus on some small thing, totally forgotten.

If ever there is a urgent or special message for you BaobhanSith,my wish for you is that it gets to you, delivered by a caring soul πŸ™‚

Hi DV (home of the winds?),
Hi DV (home of the winds?),

When did you first realise you were psychic? I don’t mean your first weird experience, I mean when did you realise what such things meant? Did you tell someone what you were experiencing and they told you?

    • Domus Ventorum says:

      Hi Mysteryshopper

      Smiles..a inquisitive soul I see πŸ˜‰

Domus Ventorum refers to at first a mythical Sanctuary, the House where the four winds meet, it gives sanctuary to all, judges none, and resides in all our hearts,or should. When it is ready to manifest itself into the physical world,it becomes a home we are drawn to choosing, and where we will be at our happiest.

When did I first realize I was psychic you ask,my first concious thought that there are more layers to this world than what others around me saw,was at the age of 3-4.My mother sensed and saw that there was something very different about me from a very early age, before I was a year old,I would point to people that ‘wasnt there’,or stretch out my arms to them to be picked up.It has to be said that my Mom is the most logical person in the world, and have never been into anything remotelly spiritual at all.

Concious thought that I could remember came to me around 3 years of age,I spoke to adults in a calm manner, and my vocabulary always astounded them apparently.I am sure all of you have met at times children whom you have felt instinctivelly are Old Souls?

Also,as I grew up in the Kalahari on a farm in South Africa in the 70’s,I certainly did not get any ideas from t.v,infact, lol,I was 6 or 7 before we got one on the remote farm where I grew up.

I read from age 4,loved books, but surelly wouldnt have had any acces to anything spooky at that age.

Anyway, I continually got through little messages for people, picked up snatches and imagery from theire lives when I met new ones or we had visitors etc.And I always had ‘friends’to play with, lol. To this day it amuses me when adults talk about theire childrens imaginery friends, they are quite real, believe me πŸ˜‰

Your final question was who told me, nobody have told me outright when I was small,I just knew I was different. And peoples reactions to me,and confirmations acknowledged it.The most common remark I have gotten through the years is ‘it is as if you can see right through me,your eyes are so different’.Whatever that means, lol,I have learned to live with it as most people mean it in a complimentary way.
I never even met a psychic before I was well into my twenties, and that was by chance. When I was a teenager, the internet where not freely available in s.a yet like it is now.
I went with a friend of mine, who is a Reiki master,to a friend of hers, who channels,I just sort off hung around while they where having a session, sat in the livingroom, when they where finished, the woman came out, walked to me and said if I have any idea how strong a gift I have, how she felt physically ill when I walked into her house with my friend, that the energy levels where raised so high(this is what caused her to feel sick) that she felt faint.

I did by no means do this conciously of course,it simply happened because the energy of 3 strong Souls where confined and restricted to a small area.I have learned how to better protect myself,be less open and conspicuous, tone it down when need be I guess one could call it.

I hope that some of my answers have been helpfull.

      Hi Agricola,

I dont claim anything,I can only  describe my own experiences growing up,and that what I wrote are my beliefs,I only share my views.

So the following is only my view o.k?

I wouldnt know why there are not more psychic events reported by people with learning difficulties.

Depending on the severity of the problem, maybe they are just not that into writing up long essays on such occurences, the other way of looking at it would be,how do WE know each and every indivuduals mental capabilities or lack there off, when we read about some guy who saw a ghost in a castle ,in a newspaper?

As for those with ‘low mental’ages as you put it,would they have the necessary vocal cappacity to describe such occurences in a comprehensive way to us?I dont know, and I think each person with a dissability is unique, therefore we cannot judge in general what anybody would experience or not if they are more limited in thought process than the general population out there.

My grandad and some other old people I have seen over the years, have conversations with people that ‘arent there’,in some cases it may be senile dementia etc,in some other cases, they might genuinly be having conversations with someone in Spirit who passed over 50 years before,we wouldnt know unless we SAW or sensed that Spirit would we?

Your thoughts on why people with learning disabilities etc. and whether they experience things is interesting. It is an angle I hadn’t yet thought of,but very logical.
I am wondering  that even if they did see and experience these types of things, whether they would have the capacity to communicate it. Also whether they would be taken seriously by others. My Grandmother and Father both have forms of dementia and their minds are anything other than uncluttered. If anything its a full jumbled mess. They say some very odd things at times, but because of the disease they are taken with a grain of salt. Laughter is often the only way to cut through the tension and sadness.

    Sorry off track a little…………….

I agree with all you have said.

As for laughter, that is the best way to cope with tension and sadness as you say.
My grandad was in the early stages of Parkinsons disease when he died, coupled with being a alcoholic,it was difficult for the rest of the family at the best of times.

But you just hold on to the love in your heart for them, really apreciate the more lucid days they have, and remember them as they where, embrace them as they are and love them unconditionally.

      [/quote]

That is a tougher question than you may think Red Don.  I have wrestled with this for many years.  I would see figures and items appearing in front of me on a regular basis, usually just following a mild headache, or a feeling that something was coming.  But were they spirit….I don’t think so.  Were they hallucinations of some kind?  Possibly, though the odd few were shared.   Was it clairvoyance or psychic ability?  I’m not sure.  How are these things clearly defined and is there a way of truly determining and proving psychic ability.

Have you ever had a head scan of any sort? I’m just curious that your visions are accompanied by headaches.

No I haven’t, which might sound strange, but seeing things like this was semi normal in my family which included several spiritualists.  It was just accepted that I had the "gift" … whatever that means.  The headaches were only mild and served more of a nudge that something was going to happen more than cause any pain.  Maybe I am a prone to EMF fields or some such.

I had the experiences on a regular basis for about eight years, though now my life has calmed down, both at home and professionally I don’t tend to have them.  Alcohol seemed to stop them as well πŸ™‚  It has been ten years since they died down and I don’t miss them.

I had these experiences but I don’t know whether they were supernatural or not.  Fair enough, but I am drifting more towards them being some kind of induced hallucination rather than supernatural in nature, eventhough I was in an environment that treated them as spirit I tried viewing them logically.

Other people will be having similar "clairvoyant" experiences, but what convinces them that they psychic experiences?

I consider myself to be psychic as I tick nearly all of your boxes – I have had many experiences with seeing deceased persons, foreknowledge, etc. See my replies under NDE’s and Hauntings
When I was eighteen I was co-erced into going to a Spiritualist Church where the old lady who was the acting Medium pointed to me and said that I could do what she was doing and probably a lot better.

I can’t say that I have used this ability as I have had it as far back as I can remember and have sort of taken it for granted and have often been annoyed by what I call ‘thought
intrusion’ which I am adept at ignoring. It was not until I was about twelve years old that I found out that not everyone has this ability.

I can answer some of those questions with a "yes," but I still don’t feel I am a psychic. You see, the answers to these questions are not in the affirmative at all times. There are times when I feel so dumb and overworked, I can’t even see the obvious, let alone a movement from the corner of my eyes.

Your notes about the radio reception as a child, may not be as way out as you think.  I don’t know the scientific reasons behind any of this but:

My parents lived in Folkestone in Kent, quite close to the cliff top overlooking the channel.  In the 60/70s when I was growing up, the window frames were still the metal ones (ok, yes I am that old to remember coal fires and no double glazing).  I do actually think the metal window frames are relevent here.  I remember sitting in the living room one night, with the TV off, and my father with me.  We could both here, audibly, morse code.  This wasn’t some sort of paranormal experience, I’m sure that somehow, the morse (which was still used on the ships in the channel then) was somehow being picked up by the metal window frames which were acting as an antennae of some sort.

This happened more than once, but not that regularly to be fair, so maybe there were atmospheric conditions at play too.

I just wondered if anyone else can say that there is a scientific reason for this, and that might explain in some ways your experience too?

Re: A simple test for clairvoyance / mediumship etc

I have a question around being psychic or being a medium? I have seen a few things in my time usually when I am not expecting to see anything… for example I went to an old tavern with a boyfriend in a small town in Norfolk sometime ago and as we walked in the door I saw a man walk past me in clothing from around 100  years ago and he had a flat cap on and was straightening it up on his way out and was leaving the bar (he was not a person becasue when I turned to see him again he had vanished). I had some very strange experiences as a child and sometimes I see things, but it is not something I can turn on or of. I have strong instincts about people and things, but I wonder is this me being over sensitive about things also? i have seen so many things, but half the time I don’t think about them because its of no interest tio anyone.

I have had one clairvoyent experience I think where someone I cared about died when I was about 16 and on his years anniversary I conducted a Seance I had never done one before but it was a first time and I really believed I could do it, and I did and this person came through I could hear him laughing, it sounded like he was far away but I could hear him and the light was flickering at the table.

Another time  freind of mine was having difficulties in her house, she felt there was unrest there and I conducted a house cleansing  to rid the house of negative energy. She had wanted to sell the house but had not been able to; I did the house clearing and she said the house felt a lot better and a month later she sold it?

I don’t know if some of this stuff is clairvioyant, or medium abiliies I have or whether it is all some weird coincidence..?

If it was that I was psychic in some way how do I develop this. I used to be in to spiritual things, but I have lost this; though I still see things though not as much.

    Please advise anyone… Thanks

Re: A simple test for clairvoyance / mediumship etc
Have you ever seen a Spirit person or ghost?

Just because you see a ghost doesn’t make you clairvoyant or a medium. Millions of people have said that at one time or another they have had a paranormal experience and those millions don’t consider their experience to mean that they are clairvoyant or a medium.

2.) Have you ever heard someone calling your name when you are alone?

Just because you hear a ghostly voice calling your name doesnt make you clairvoyant or a medium.  There many reason for this type of paranormal experience.

3.)Have you ever smelled scents that should not be there,i.e strong perfume, flowery scents, even pipe smoke?

Smelling strong scents that shouldn’t be is not always a sign of psychic, clairvoyant or medium ability. Thousands to millions of people around the world have had paranormal experiences of this nature and it doesn’t mean their psychic or a medium.

4.)Do you often perceive movement out of the corner of your eye when you are reading, watching t.v etc?

There are many reason why a person might see movement out of the corner of their eye while doing other things it does not that person has psychic, clairvoyant and medium abilities

5.)Do you ever feel watched or not alone in a room, when you know no one else is home?

Again there are a whole bunch of reasons why someone could be feeling that they are being watched.  While this can be a sign of paranormal activity in a person home it can also be a sign of mental illness.  But it is not a sign of psychic, clairvoyant or  medium abilities.

6.)Are you sensitive to ‘feelings’ you get off people you meet, for example,do you instinctivelly sense they are good or bad?The same goes for objects, buildings and areas?

Lots of people without psychic abilities have instincts its part of the human condition.  Every human being makes instinctive choices about things including there thoughts on other people this has more to do with psychology and sociology than it does to whether or not a person has psychic abilities

7.)Do you often have hunches, such as taking a offramp you would never ussually take on your way back from work, and then later hearing on the traffic report that traffic was halted by a accident etc?

Again this answer is similar to the answer to question six, instincts is something that every human being has psychic or not it is not a sign of psychic abilities

8.) Before the advent of cellphones, did you often know who it was on the other end of the line before picking up the phone?

Often people know who phones them on a daily basis so its easy to guess whose calling you at certain times during the day.

9.) Do you think your pet can read your mind when you have some relaxed time together,or ever feel that you are getting images or feelings of what youre pet thinks?

Reading your pets mind is not a sign that you are psychic, the psychology of the way a pet behaves, if it is a dog or cat that loves its food and suddenly becomes dis-interested in food means one of two things its depressed or there is a medical problem.  It’s psychology not psychic ability.

10.)Have you ever got the sense of off someone that they are ill(before they know or tell you that they are),or that they will die soon?Do they ‘feel’kind off fainter than normal,as if they are not wholly with you in this realm, but allready started to cross over in some sense?

This is the only question that may be a sign of precognitive or premonition ability.

11.)Do you sometimes feel like a sponge that absorbs too much of other peoples energies, feelings etc?

This is question has more to do with what we professional psychic mediums call psychic vampires, it is not a sign of psychic or medium ability.

these question can be found on a number of silly so called psychic sites found off various google lists and its obvious that the majority of sites havent got  a clue about anything psychic related.

Psychic is psychic ,mediums are Mediums there is difference between the two. Psychics can only  read  the  auric field  for information.  Mediums have a heightened sense of the Spirit world. Only. Mediumship has  Clairvoyance, clairaudience. and clairsentience.  Clairvoyance  is not a seperate   from  Mediumship.  Mediums are born not made  and it   runs I  families. It is also rare   which has been given  credence by Dr Felipe Oliviera of Sao Paulo  university Brazil.  He has discovered after many years of research that mediums have more  "Brown sand" or calcification than non mediums. these crystals act as transmitters and receivers to the Spirit Realms.

Mediumship is  as old as mankind, the ancient Egyptians,Greeks and other societies had their own state  Oracles, they were chosen for  sensitivity  and the Gift of Mediumship.  They were respected.

Interesting blog, and comments. Personally, I answered all but question 9, in the positive. I still believe however, that everyone has the ability to tap into these realms….and also, our ancient ancestors had the ability as well. Somewhere along the generational march, it has been temporarily lost through any number of distractions. Interestingly, certain ‘triggers’ tend to jar it back into the consciousness. It’s refreshing to know that there are others who exhibit these tendencies.
