Circle Fakers?
We know now that many of the crop circles that
have been reported over the past twenty years or so have been faked as
the culprits admitted it. Is it fair to say that all Crop Circles are
probably faked and how can we tell if they are not?

Circle Fakers?
It is safe to say that the many complicated designs are fake, but most of the more simplistic swirls are considered of unknown origin – after discounting whirwinds in corn fields etc
Crop circles have been found around the world in areas less accessible than a south england field, such as paddy fields.
UFO sightings have also been seen at the same time as their formation in some cases.
Naturally the fakes have complicated the issue, but I am sure some genuine circles are overlooked these days as mischief making, whilst the complicated patterns get the free publicity.
Circle Fakers?
If I rememebr correctly, they date back to at least 15th Century? Panflets of the "Mowing Devil" were distributed, I don’t have the information at hand, but I could rake it out if anyone’s interested…
But then, how technologically advanced is a plank with rope run through each end?
I suppose back then
I suppose back then agriculture played a major part of the local economy and any damage to even a small area of crops would be very serious.
It makes you wonder if the Devil just got the blame for some medieval pranksters or whether there actually is a phenomena that has been around for centuries.
Cirlces were very popular in the eighties and nineties, probably due to the hoaxers, but how common were they before that?
[img_assist|nid=1434|title=Mowing Devil|desc=|link=none|align=left|width=375|height=543]Being a True Relation of a Farmer, who Bargaining with a Poor Mower, about the Cutting down Three Half Acres of Oats: upon the Mower’s asking too much, the Farmer swore That the Devil should Mow it rather than He. And so it fell out, that very Night, the Crop of Oat shew’d as if it had been all of a flame: but next Morning appear’d so neatly mow’d by the Devil or some Infernal Spirit, that no Mortal Man was able to do the like. Also, How the said Oats ly now in the Field, and the Owner has not Power to fetch them away.
Liscensed, August 22nd, 1678.
This is said to be the earliest example of a crop circle which came about after a disagreement with a farm hand. The farmer ends up probably losing a lot of the crop as he cannot move it to safety on his own. Could members of the local community have got together, mowed it all by flaming torchlight. This crop was mowed, crop circles are flattened aren’t they?
Circlemakers
In his book Circlemakers Andrew Collins poses the theory that Orgone Energy could be the cause of crop circles.
Circle Fakers?
I’ve never heard of Orgone energy. How does it work? I remember seeing a programme a while back about crop circles (A Discovery/Nat Geo hour long special thing, they did anohter couple of shows on Bigfoot and Alien Abduction I think), and they were out measuring the electricity or magnetic energy inside the circles compared to outside.

Mind you, back then everything was blamed on the Devil. And if it wasn’t the Devil, then it was "Elf-shot" or the "Evil Eye". Could there have been any scope for fierce rivalry between farms?
Maybe not, maybe it is an extraterrestrial phenomenon? True enough, just because in our enlightened age of science (not to mention some awesome movies) we see them as alien life-forms, that does not necessarily mean they’ve only just arrived.
Circle Fakers?
How does Orgone Energy work? Does it work or even does it exist should be the question.
It is all based around the work of Wilhelm Reich who beleived he could store this natural energy in Orgone Accumulators. The Kate Bush song "Cloud Busting" is about Reich, Orgone Energy and using it to make it rain by directing it into the sky through huge funnels. The video is bound to be on Youtube.
Check out these sites for more on Orgone.

I managed to pick up a book years on making an Orgone Accumulator and I know someone who stuck some tubes through a sky light trying to bust clouds , which I am sure was done under strict scientific conditions.
Personally I’m not convinced. Explaining Crop Circles with Orgone Energy is in effect explaining one mystery with another mystery. We may as well blame the devil ourselves. Did that devil bring his own scythe do you think?
Circle Fakers?
Heh, kind of reminds me of "Doc" Sheils’ "Elephant squid" Nessie theory.
You
take one cryptid and turn it into something that has never been
described in the entirety of the natural world (a freshwater
cephalopod, let alone a giant one).
Yes I am a bit of a
skeptic when it comes to these thigns (despite being deeply interested
in the paranormal), but my motto has always been:
Seek answers in the mundane with hope for answers in the fantastic.
Circle Fakers?
Same here. Look for the natural explanations
first, then concentrate your research on that what you can’t explain.
This way your not duplicating other peoples work and you’ll get the
most out of the limited time you have at these locations.
One of
the big problems with all aspects of the paranormal, crop circles,
cryptozoology and ghosts included is that they can be and have been
faked. The trick is identifying the fakes as quickly as possible so
that you just work on suspected paranormal activity.
I think
this is where crop circles become a near impossible task to
investigate. How do you indentify a good fake? How do you tell beyond
reasonable doubt that it is created by some un-explainable event? Until
this is answered what value is your research?
Circle Fakers?
If we are going to get excited about a strange event, lets make sure it’s worth getting excited about.
