Irish film legend Richard Harris (1930-2002) was a genuinely eccentric character and strongly believed in the paranormal and considered himself "thrilled" when he discovered the house he had just bought was haunted.
In 1954 he was an unknown young actor in London and one morning he passed in front of a beautiful house: he immediately told his friends that one day he would buy the place.
In 1968, now an actor of renown after starring in films such as This Sporting Life and Camelot , he discovered that his "dream house" was up for sale. He spent a very large amount of money to outbid a previous offer and he always said that it was "money well spent".
Before moving in he contacted a detective agency to check how burglar-proof the house was. The agency sent a former "professional" burglar to try enter the place.
After the man made an easy entry, he heard a child crying. Since he knew the house was empty he checked around the rooms to see if a local child had perhaps managed to enter the house and got lost or perhaps hurt. He managed to track the noise from one of the rooms upstairs and checked everywhere but to no avail.
After exiting the house he gave his opinion on how to improve the house security but added "That’s a strange house there".
Harris always mantained that the house was haunted by the spirit of a child, a eight year old boy buried in the house’s tower, to be precise. How he got these datas, it is not known.
Harris was "thrilled" with his new house and his uninvited guest and he admitted that he managed to come to terms with his "spook". He had the ghost perform for his guests and if "it" became too noisy or didn’t allow him to sleep well at night he threatened to have it exorcised: in the end he struck a bargain with his personal ghost. He built a nursery on the top floor, complete with children’s books and toys: after this the ghost started behaving like a "good child".
The present owners do not wish to be involved and refuse to comment about recent supernatural actvity in the house.
