Sightings of Roman ghosts in South Devon
I am researching the Roman presence in the South Devon area, and as part of my research I would be very interested to hear of any sightings or legends relating to that era.

The Iron Age hillfort at Hunter’s Tor is said to have been the scene of a battle between Roman troops and British defenders; apparently at certain times of year this battle can be either seen or heard, but never both at once. Hunter’s Tor is at the top of Lustleigh Cleave, near the village of Lustleigh on the Eastern edge of Dartmoor.
A few years ago I remember seeing a ghost photo posted onlline which had been taken in the famous show caves at Kent’s Cavern, Torquay. It supposedly showed the figure of a Legionary in full uniform. Roman artifacts have been found in the caves and nearby.
If anyone has experienced a Roman haunting or knows of any local legends; for instance, Barton Road in Torquay used to be known as the Roman Road, I would love to hear about it.
