Re: Strange carcass washes ashore
Thank you for the link The Doctor and welcome to the Mysterious Britain website. I’m not quite sure what that creature is, I know I never worked on anything like that back whenI was a butcher. (Actually if I had, I wouldn’t have admitted it). Obviously anything that had been in the sea for any length of time would be bloated and look quite differant to how it would normally.
I followed the links to the Montauk Monster and found the explaination to Montauk II by Dr Daz hilarious.
"Dr Daz, who correctly identified it as a genetic mutant lifeform back engineered from material recovered from the Roswell crash".
Re: Strange carcass washes ashore
Talked about this with a zoologist friend back when the ridicolous Montauk Carcass made the news. We both agreed that before starting posting on the Internet people should look at the teeth (they are the mammals “ID”). All the past carcasses of this kind revealed their true identity when somebody bothered taking a picture of the teeth… and it’s usually nothing fancy!

I’m a zoologist and it looks like a possum to me. Possums are not native to NZ but there are feral populations.
Re: Strange carcass washes ashore
Well it looked like a dog to me on first glance apart from the feet –
Re: Strange carcass washes ashore
If I remember correctly Australian Opossums are considered a pest in New Zealand…

You can see how pictures like this cause hysteria and interest. I wish the picture had something in it to compare scale. I look at it and want to think of something the size of a large dog.
Cases like this need the body examining by a professional who can identify the creature correctly. I suppose we should only get excited when those results come back inconclusive.
