A Ghost of a Suicide
A man was once going to Douglas to hear a great preacher. He left Surby soon after twelve o’clock on Saturday night, and as he was just going to cross the river near Ballasalla, he heart a gruff voice, saying: Ha, thou art early though : and he looked round, and saw a big man standing by the side of the bridge, and he said he knew the man, he committed suicide some time before by drowning himself in the river.
