Balgonie Castle
The castle was built by the Sibbald family in the 14th century, and was later in the possession of Sir Robert Lundie during the 15th century. The castle was visited by both James the IV and Mary Queen of Scots, who seems to have visited most of the castles in Scotland, in legend if not in the flesh.
The castle is said have a number of ghosts, a Green Lady known as Green Jeanie, is said to haunt the castle stairs, she has been identified with one of the Lundie family. She is said to have haunted the site for over two centuries. (A Green Jean also haunts Wemyss Castle).
The castle is also associated with a grey figure of a man, a White Lady to go with the green one, and a spirit without a head, ghostly voices have also been heard in the hall.
Directions: The castle can be reached off the B921, to the East of Milton of Balgonie.
