Burnham Green
The area is said to be haunted by headless horses, especially in the vicinity of a sunken lane to Welwyn village.
Sunken lanes are trackways, which pass below the level of the surrounding countryside, often with steep banks. Many are considered very ancient, the remnants of old trackways perhaps dating as far back as the Bronze Age.
The haunting is said to relate to a battle in the area between the Vikings and the Saxons in AD1002.
Directions: Burnham Green is to the North of Welwyn Garden City, on a minor road from Harmer Green.
Re: Burnham Green
Yes, Oh most certainly yes. This is a paranormal hotspot that I am very familiar with, and that, of course, includes UFOs.
Re: Burnham Green
Dear Mark (Torrender),
As you browse this site, I have placed connecting info here. As it is connecting information, I have addressed this to all who may be interested. Whilst I sense that there may be mild paranormal activity in the Perrywood lane area, I do have experience of activities between the areas of Hertford, Bramfield, and Burnham Green.
I personally know that these activities also extend through Whitehorse Lane to Woolmer Green, Oaklands, and Digswell, but Harmer Green does not appear to be a target. As Perry is a reference to fairies, I must presume that something odd had once occurred there. Perhaps there had been mysterious dancing light activity in the woodland, some centuries ago. Having seen luminous orb stuff for myself, my assertion is that such weirdness has persisted into present times.
