Glasgow Royal Infirmary
The Glasgow Royal Infirmary is a large teaching hospital who’s site covers 20 acres. The following account of a haunting experience was published in Mark Gould’s article entitled ‘Ghosts of sisters past’ [The Guardian, 22 December 2004]. ‘As a young nurse at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, [Judith] Whalley recalls walking along a top floor corridor and seeing a ward sister coming towards her. “As she walked by, I said: ‘Evening, sister.’ Then I realised I could see her only from the knees up.” Whalley’s explanation is that the hospital was very old and had had new floors installed from time to time. “She seemed to be walking along an older floor level.”
