Shipman’s Public House, Northampton
Poltergeist activity experienced within the pub has been explained as the ghost of Harry Franklin, a former manager who committed suicide in gruesome circumstances. In 1996 an article appeared in The Mirror, in which the landlady, Diane West mentioned a few experiences. These included a ghostly figure photographed by the fruit machine, noises in th bathroom, footsteps on the stairs and drinks starting to move. She described “Full pint glasses just slid to the end of the table, stopped, jumped up and dropped off.” It is thought that Harry Franklin slit his own throat and took a week to die.
