Slaptonbury Mill
There is a ghost legend attached to Slaptonbury Mill, of which not even ruins remain. Hooves are said to be heard at night in Slapton and these are said to belong to a pony that was being ridden by a young girl on an errand. Her father had sent her from his farm to the Mill on the other side of the Slapton, where, according to tradition, both her and the pony drowned. The sound of hooves was considered to be the girl trying to ride back home.
