Tattershall Castle
Tattershall Castle is an impressive structure in rural Lincolnshire. A large, red-brick tower, it was built between 1430 and 1450 by Ralph Cromwell, then Treasurer of England. It is believed to have been built on the site of a previously exiting fortified manor house, which had been built in 1231 by Robert de Tattershall. Today Tattershall Castle is open to the public and is a wonderfully atmospheric place to explore, commanding lovely views of the surrounding countryside.
A mysterious White Lady has been reported to wander the battlements of the castle at night, although nobody seems sure of who this lady is or where she comes from.
