On 6 January 2010 the Shields Gazzette published the following article entitled ‘Crowds flock to see church spectre’. It concerns the reporting of an apparition in the 19th century outside an unnamed Whitechapel church.

The John Snow public house at 39 Broadwick Street was named after Dr John Snow (Born 15 March 1813 – Died 16 June 1858), who traced the source of the Soho cholera outbreak of 31 August 1854 to contaminated water from a pump on Broadwick Street (known as Broad Street prior to 1936).
Broadwick Street was originally known as Broad Street and apart from being the site of a major outbreak of Cholera on 31 August 1854, about a hundred years earlier an apparitional experience was reported here. The following account of the experience was published in ‘The Haunted Homes and Family Traditions of Great Britain’ (1897) by John Ingram.
Thankfully reports where big cats have attacked someone are rare, but the following article entitled ‘Big cat chases jogger…is the ‘beast’ of Sydenham back?’ which appeared on the Newshopper website (14 December 2009) gives an account of a very close encounter with one.
ELTHAM residents fear a big cat is on the loose after foxes were found ripped to shreds.
Laura Downes, 47, of Westmount Road, Eltham, discovered a dead fox in her back garden and thought there was nothing sinister involved.
But when she looked out an hour later nothing was left except clumps of fur, scattered around the garden.
On 1 September 2009 Newshopper published an article by Scott Mullins entitled ‘My pursuit of the elusive Palace Puma’ in which he gives the following description of an encounter at Crystal Palace.

Alison White in a Newshopper article entitled ‘Sightings of big cats rocket in past month’ (30 December 2006) metions that ‘In April 2003, teenager Daniel Brown disturbed a giant black cat in the back garden of his home in Preston Drive, Welling.

According to Alison White in a Newshopper article entitled ‘Sightings of big cats rocket in past month’ (30 December 2006), in January 2005 ‘News Shopper reported how a big cat had been seen near Churchfield Woods, Bexley Village.
