Wiltshire Stories of the Supernatural by Sonia Smith
‘Most people are intrigued by ghosts and stories about paranormal happenings, even if they do not believe in them’. Sonia Smith has certainly gathered together an amazing collection of twenty three short stories guaranteed to intrigue and entertain all who pick up this book.
The stories covering the four corners of Wiltshire are authentic accounts of experiences collected by Sonia over many years and each one written as the tale was originally reported. This gives the feeling that the reader is almost interviewing the witness to the activity and adds a nice twist to the classic ghost story. Within its ninety six pages you’ll find stories covering black dogs, grey ladies, ghostly monks and a host of other phantoms in well known Wiltshire locations such as Avebury, West Kennett Long Barrow even Waylands Smithy, which technically is just close to the border. I must admit that I would have liked to see some illustrations accompanying the stories, though I thought the inclusion of a basic map was a good touch to show where the stories take place. If you live in Wiltshire, plan to visit or just have an interest in the supernatural, Sonia has written a book that will get you thinking.
